We have one of the neatest jobs on the planet. As land specialists, it is so much fun to see a dream transform into a reality.
My business partner, Jason Cleveland, listed a 190-acre tract in Pike County, MO overlooking the Mississippi River. It had been in the same family since the 1940’s. The timber had not been harvested, it had it’s own access to the Mississippi River, a lake, and some of the best views that I have seen in the state of Missouri. This was a chance for someone to own one of the knobs in Pike County, Missouri. Simply an amazing opportunity.
Last summer I played in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes golf tournament which experienced a long rain delay. While sitting in a pavilion I met a gentleman that told me he wanted to buy a piece of property. He had a list of qualifications. In other words, he had a dream. That day was the beginning of what became a yearlong search. Did I mention that another benefit of our job is that we get to make great friendships in the process?
After looking at several properties he and his lovely bride were considering making an offer on the Pike County property. While walking the northern border he literally stepped on this shed! Talk about a sign!
Almost a year to the date later they closed on this property and got to work. Trophy Properties and Auction introduced them to local contractors and agencies and tried to help out after the sale any way we could.
Our buyer also engaged Dr. Eric Holzmueller, PhD, a forestry specialist who is also a member of the Trophy Properties and Auction team. Dr. Holzmueller did a timber cruise of the property and explained to our client that there was significant value ready to harvest. Dr. Holzmueller has supervised the logging operation and the buyer is ecstatic with the return on investment, and the new access roads that have been created throughout the timber.
Since closing, the buyer has been hard at work building a beautiful stone lodge overlooking the river.
His nephews hunted it opening day of Missouri firearms season and one of them harvested this buck!
Stay tuned! We will update with additional pictures as the project develops. This couple already has a list of stories to share and this is only just the beginning of the memories that are to be created.
It really is fun to be part of someone’s dream and help him or her achieve it. If you have a dream, be it big or small, we can help you. Give us a call!
