The pursuit of the Hecs 20 Gauge Grand Slam is off to Dilley,Texas this time around with a Rio square in the sights of Jason Cleveland.
The season began with a trip to Florida where Cleveland bagged an Osceola on the first morning of his hunt outside of Orlando. This time around before he chased the famed Texas bird, he decided to collect some pork for the camp menu.
“The hogs just kept pouring in all around us,” said Cleveland who is the Broker / Partner of United Country Trophy Properties and Auction. “With our Hecs suits on we were able to sit in the open and wait for the action to begin.”
As for the Rio… he got the job done there as well. After a morning of slipping around and waiting for the right shot, bird No.2 of the Hecs 20 Gauge Grand Slam was on the ground.
“We watched these birds for a long time and played a little cat and mouse for a while,” Cleveland said. “In the end with our Hecs we were able to move around undetected and getting the shot on a nice Texas turkey.”
Two down and two to go… next up is back home to Missouri with an Eastern Wild Turkey on the menu.
